At your initial appointment, Dr. Paul Gibas, Dr. John Dunbar, or Dr. Adam Brantley will examine your mouth to determine if extraction is really the best option for you. If your dentist determines that an extraction is right for you, the procedure may begin right away, depending on the severity of your oral health issue. However, you may need to schedule a follow-up appointment to have your teeth extracted if they are not posing an immediate threat to your oral health.
This type of extraction is also known as a “simple” extraction and is typically used to remove teeth that have been damaged by decay, periodontal disease, or oral injuries. Your dentist will numb the area, wiggle the tooth loose, then pull it out. The area will be cleaned, disinfected, and sutured, and you’ll be sent home with a set of recovery instructions.
